How To Feel Feelings: Press Release
Supporters of a fallen authoritarian regime are sentenced to group therapy in this absurdist dark comedy from a Berlin-based theatre collective

Yay, fascism is over! The new administration’s handy dandy military tribunal has made quick work of all the serious higher ups. But what about everyone else? In How to Feel Feelings, five total normies who may or may not have Done Some Bad Stuff are forced to attend group therapy until their zany, enigmatic therapist decides if they’re worthy of amnesty.
How to Feel Feelings is a semi-devised, darkly comedic take on the rise and fall of authoritarian regimes and what to do with the people who seemed like they were sort of just fine with the whole thing, or at least didn’t really want to talk about it. The show remixes contemporary mental health buzzword culture, the history of truth and reconciliation commissions and reeducation camps, and postmodern absurdism to encourage its fictional characters and audience members alike to truthfully answer one simple question: how do you really feel?
great thing going is a Berlin-based theatre collective with members hailing from the UK, Germany, the US, and Brazil. Passionate about storytelling that links the historical to the contemporary, the collective creates collaborative, funny, and open-hearted theatre that authoritarian regimes would totally hate. Their debut show was the sold-out European premiere of The World is Ending and Maybe That’s Kinda Hot by Catherine Weingarten. How to Feel Feelings is their first original play. The creative team includes director Izzy Rousmaniere, playwright Alissa Rubinstein, producer/actor Gabriela Weissenberg, and cast members/wearers of additional creative hats Chloe Hayward, Celine Hochgräber, Kelly Kiesewetter, David Ressler, and Sara Rosenkranz, with further support from the Berlin indie theatre community.
